What society has ever not wanted peace and security? And what politician in a position to do something about it would not talk about peace and security? This has given JWs many opportunities to get excited in the past and will continue to in the future as well.

JW in Germany Have "Stand Firm"-Event in Protestant Church Building!
by GermanXJW inon november 13th, jw in hamburg are again showing their "stand firm"-movie and on on november 18th they have a contemporary jw witness there to talk about his experiences.
jw in europe have done this several times.
the interesting piece is that this time it is being done in the "haus der kirche" ("house of the church") in harburg, a hamburg district.

SBF: Isn't that the truth! If it ever becomes a situation that is to the benefit of the organization, all rules will be thrown out immediately. For example, the joint lawsuit with other religious organizations about taxes on profits from sales of literature. I wonder how much contact was kept to a minimum while working on legal strategy in that case? Of course the WT's main strategy in such situations is to keep it quiet and hope the R&F doesn't find out!

Got some troubles....
by thebiggestlie inso i havnt posted in a while but i'm a regular lurker.
i'm 19 years old and live at home with the parentals.
i just admitted to them that i've been secretly seeing a "worldly" girl for about a year.

I know this is a tough time for you. My thoughts are with you as you sort out what you will do. Congratulations, though, on figuring out that life in the WT is a big mistake. You're still young, with your whole life ahead of you. That's a real advantage. So many of us here took much longer to figure it out. And we have all the regrets and missed opportunities that go along with that. Even though this is hard, you will have escaped much by getting out at your age! Good luck!

Interesting Local Needs Talk: Don't Invite Studies To "Our" Get Togethers
by minimus ini heard that the most recent local needs talk was regarding the evils of having non witnesses at "our" gatherings.
since there's nothing really for "us" to talk to "them" about, and since "their" conversation will not involve anything to do with "the truth", we should guard against "worldly" association.
it appears that the cult wants their members totally removed from anyone not a witness.

This is so sad. Can you imagine how much fun it is to be part of this group if you have an unbelieving mate? "You're invited to the party, but don't bring your husband because he might corrupt the rest of us!"
I hope people figure out that the real reason for this "counsel" is because their shunning policies work better when their followers have no friends outside of the organization! -

I'm sorry. I know how much it hurts. Some of my family refused to come to my wedding too. It's not right. It's not loving. And it's not fair. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about it either. It really was their loss though. I hope some day your relationship with them can be healed.

What is your family's favorite Christmas tradition?
by LovesDubs ini was a methodist for the first 30 years of my life, a jw in the middle 13 and then from 1997 have returned to my christmas roots, albeit with a different perspective about what "religion" means to me.
but christmas is a big package which to me extends beyond the birth of jesus.
ive had to re-start, and invent new, traditions for my kids and i as we are alone down here in florida most christmases, and all our relatives who are down here are jws.

I used to put up a beautiful tree in our home every year and just loved it. But now that we have our two boys (both cats), I know they would just dump it over, chew up the ornaments, and have to have a trip to the vet. So we make due with an advent wreath and celebrate at relatives' homes instead.

When I was leaving "the truth" a number of years ago, I had several friends that left about the same time. One of them told me that from now on he was calling the JW religion "the lie." LOL.

JWs and National Oaths of Allegiance Expose' by Marvin Shilmer-Please Read
by AndersonsInfo inthe following three paragraphs are part of a startling new essay written by a well-respected poster on jwd.
he spent much time and money to gather proof of duplicity on the part of watch tower leaders.
marvin shilmer (not his real name) has given permission for me to put his entire essay on my website, www.watchtowerdocuments.com.

Thanks for the letter from Lorene Stanley.
At first I thought that they have one set of rules for the average JW and another for themselves. But now I'm realizing the principle is the same. Whatever promotes the benefit of the Watchtower Society, in their mind, is their true guiding principle.
It seems, outwardly, that they contradict themselves when they tell JWs not to salute the flag, but then swear an oath of allegiance to the constitution. Or when they used to tell JW children they couldn't have vaccinations, even if required to go to school, but then got them themselves so they could travel abroad for WT purposes. But in reality the positions promote the same purpose. They pursue whatever they feel best serves the interests of the WT at the time.
Drawing attention to the organization for its outrageous views, lawsuits, persecution, and taking clear positions against those of other religions for the sake of it, all served to advance the interests of the WTS in the eyes of the leadership. No position, regardless of the consequences, was out of bounds.
They were, and still are, more than happy to sacrifice their followers to the god of the Watchtower. -

Jesus said of the Pharisees, "They bind up heavy loads and put them upon the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger." Matthew 23:4.
I see no difference between pledging allegiance to the constitution and pledging allegiance to the flag. I wonder if this policy was started as another publicity stunt/ploy to gain attention, like when Rutherford instructed Witnesses to go into towns where they knew they would get arrested so they would have court cases.
It also reminds me of their stance on all things pagan. They say it's wrong to celebrate holidays because of their pagan roots, yet it's okay to wear wedding rings because no one remembers their pagan roots.
I think their policies are less about principles, and more about the perceived benefits to the organization of their various positions.
